Although the weather seems uncertain about it, it is officially winter now. I did have to check my calendar to be sure though. I hope you’ve all packed away your Thanksgiving roasting pans along with some fond memories of a nice feast, as I have; now it’s time to turn our attention to December.As the holiday season gets into full swing this month, we here at CliffDweller would like to join you again this year as you give back to this great community. Our overwhelming response to last year’s Charity issue encouraged us that so many of you continuously serve the neighborhood that serves you.And so in this second annual issue, we spotlight some of the many ways y’all are doing good around the Cliff. Read on to find out about the area AIDS Arms outreach and how they are meeting the needs of a growing AIDS population; and find out about a local high school teacher who’s bridged a connection between Oak Cliff and hurricane-ravaged Honduras. Both can use your help this holiday season, so give all you can.We’ve also included some holiday treats for you, including Melody Townsel’s traditions in the hood, a look into Tio Joe’s restaurant, and another jam-packed Special Holiday Gift Guide.And although it’s time to celebrate, we were all saddened to hear of Caroline Britton’s recent passing. Whether you knew her personally or not, every CliffDweller was influenced by this very special community pioneer.
