DISD Supt. Michael Hinojosa spoke at a "state of the district" luncheon today (no jokes, please), and the DMN posted a two-minute edited video with Hinojosa and board president Jack Lowe making some comments, including calling what has happened "embarrassing" and "humbling". No real breaking news, but there were a couple of morsels: Whatever layoffs will happen are unlikely to begin until the first or second week of October, after the administration has reviewed input from school principals and determined which schools are overstaffed relative to district targets. There have been lots of rumors floating around about who or what might be cut, but nothing is likely to be official until Thursday’s board meeting or later.
