When I had breakfast at Carnitas, I noticed that Alamo Plaza Hotel Courts had been boarded up. It’s a sign that Oaxaca Interests, LLC and Drexel Realty Partners are on the move with Project Luke, a LEED-certified mixed-use development.

Oaxaca’s website states: "North Oak Cliff has become a trendy Bohemian neighborhood and a center for art, upscale nightlife and residential development. This shift has left the area grossly underserved, creating an immediate need for an organic grocer presence," and that the "green-friendly and organically-minded consumer [will be] looking for restaurant, cinema, loft space and similar retail destinations."

Fort Worth Avenue Development Group president Scott Griggs noted that the Alamo Plaza Hotel Courts are full of lead and asbestos, so demolition will take some time. It is believed, however, that the neon sign will be saved.
