You may remember reading about Wynnewood North resident Elaine Dodson in our November magazine. Honestly, after looking over her Sacred Journey Retreats website and reading about her ayurvedic cooking classes, I had expected to find someone who looked more earthy, along the granola girl vein. But Dodson was in a beautiful black outfit, perfectly made up, and wearing chunky turquoise jewelry.

Then she explained to me that she spent roughly 30 years in the beauty salon and spa business, and that her retreats — also called "Goddess Retreats" — involve both learning about make-up and climbing pyramids blindfolded. She’s pretty much a holistic beauty entrepreneur, and was incredibly interesting to talk to.

Her next retreat in Tezpotlan, Mexico is not until June, but it’s already half-full. Highlights include a shamanic fire ceremony and a feng shui fashion show. The price tag for the week-long trip is somewhat hefty — $2,850 — so it’s only for the truly interested.
