So much is happening in the Bishop Arts District this weekend that it would be a shame not to spend at least an hour or two there. For starters, Bishop Arts shop owners are hosing "Jingle Bells on Bishop: A Cowboy Christmas." The festivities from 6-10 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights include special menus, sales, open houses, gallery shows, pics with Santa, live entertainment and, as mentioned in the December Advocate, a progressive craft to keep the kids busy while the parents shop and make merry.

All day Saturday is Make Studio’s Holiday Bazaar, starting at 11 a.m. and continuing until 10 p.m. Get there early to find the best selection from the independent vendors or handmade products. The event also includes a fashion show from Make Studio alums.

Don’t miss the silent and live auction at Bubble Saturday, also from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., benefitting Vecinos Unidos’ efforts to educate families about home ownership and use fallow land to build affordable housing. I’ve heard that the live auction from 8-9 p.m. on the Jingle Bells main stage includes dinner dates with the likes of Mayor Pro Tem Elba Garcia and Kathy Jack of Jack’s Backyard, among other neighborhood "celebs".
