Uninsured autos will be towed beginning Jan. 1

Just a friendly reminder: If the police stop you beginning Jan. 1 for a traffic violation and you don’t have insurance, you will probably be getting acquainted with the city auto pound. That’s because the new city ordinance authorizing police to tow uninsured vehicles takes effect Jan. 1 at the stroke of the new year. We discussed this issue last year at Back Talk when the city council was considering approving the ordinance, and overall it seemed as if most neighorhood residents were OK with the new law. We’ll find out now, won’t we?
