I couldn’t help but be amused by the title of Decorazon Gallery‘s upcoming show. I was pretty sure it was a reference to the recent incident in Baghdad, when an Iraqi reporter hurled shoes at President Bush, but I called the gallery just to double check.
Gallery director Hugo Garcia confirmed my hunch, and told me that artists can submit shoes for the exhibit until Jan. 30. (The full entry form is on the gallery’s website.) People are encouraged to express their feelings, whether good or bad, through a shoe or pair of shoes. The show opens on Feb. 5 and runs through Feb. 16 (President’s Day, appropriately).
