That’s according to a blog post this week from organizer Amy Wallce Cowan. Her goal was 20 floats, so the pre-Fat Tuesday parade, a neighborhood first, is already surpassing expectations.

After her disappointing experience with the Victory Park Mardi Gras parade last year, Cowan says she had to start a parade of her own, since she doesn’t believe in complaining without offering a solution. (The world needs more of this.)

And she’s dead serious about making sure there are plenty of throws (beads, doubloons, cups) at the parade from Methodist Hospital to the Bishop Arts District — the entry form requires each float to have them, and Cowan provided three websites to make it easy for people to order them (Toomey’s, eMardi Gras Beads, and Beads by the Dozen).
