Make plans to visit the home of Enrique MacGregor and Mark Niermann, 845 N. Oak Cliff Blvd., on Saturday night for the third annual Grape Expectations wine tasting benefit. Sample more than 300 bottles of wine from all over the world, plus enjoy "light bites" and a silent auction. The $35 event (pay at the door with cash, check or credit card) is hosted by the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Dallas, and benefits Oak Cliff’s Twelve Hills Nature Center.

Spiral Diner celebrates its first anniversary as an Oak Cliff restaurant on Sunday with a celebratory pancake-eating contest. It starts at 3 p.m., and is open to both participants and gawkers. The winner will receive … a trophy. (And a stomachache, likely.)
