It doesn’t come as a huge surprise, but now it’s official: Dr. Elba Garcia, who is leaving her City Council District 1 seat because of term limits, has officially endorsed her former Park Board selection, Delia Jasso, to be her replacement.

Garcia and Ed Oakley, former City Councilman for District 3, which neighbors elected Dave Neumann to take over when Oakley ran for mayor, are hosting a reception in Jasso’s honor this Thursday, March 5, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Salon Las Americas. The campaign email describes the event as a "meet and greet" as opposed to a fundraiser, so I’m assuming anyone can just show up if they want to ask Jasso questions about her stances on political issues.

This is not really discussed in the email sent out from Jasso’s campaign; Garcia and Oakley simply say that she "is a visionary, results-oriented leader for Dallas City Council District 1. She is knowledgeable about the district’s issues and major challenges as well as those that affect the entire City of Dallas. Her goal is to make sure that Dallas remains a great place to live, work and raise a family." A little more info on Jasso’s priorities can be found here.
