Former Dallasite Billy Crudup got his acting start here at Hillcrest High School back in ‘80s. Since then, he’ s gone on to make us plenty proud in films like “Almost Famous.” You can now watch his latest work in “Watchman," where he plays a giant blue naked superhero, Dr. Manhattan.

While the movie gets points for fierce fight scenes and dazzling visual effects, as you’d expect from the same mastermind behind “300”—it’s something you can probably just put off for your DVD rental list. That is, of course, unless you are a diehard fan of the original graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. If you already know and love these characters, you’re in for a treat. If you’re just a casual moviegoer (like the person writing this) you’ll likely be bored by the nearly three-hour film. It wasn’t a bad movie, it just felt entirely too long. Were this movie about half as long, I think it’d be about twice as good.
