Coffee fans, rejoice: Espumoso Café is coming to our neighborhood. Owner and manager Anthony Fernandez says opening day for Bishop Arts‘ newest business will be April 25.

Fernandez, who co-owns the shop with his father, says Espumoso (which translates into “foamy” or “frothy” in Spanish) will serve coffee drinks, fruit juices and smoothies made with organic, free trade products. Fernandez also contacted local entrepreneurs Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters, whom he hopes will provide the beans for the café.

After growing up “all over the place” (Jamaica, California, Seattle and Texas), exploring Latin American studies at New Mexico University, and earning a stock broker’s license, Fernandez says he decided to venture into opening up his own business after dining in the Bishop Arts District with his family and noticing the former Papa Danny’s space (between Veracruz and the Bishop Arts police storefront) for lease. Fernandez plans on opening the café the same day as the Oak Cliff Art Crawl, which nearby neighbors Soda Gallery and Decorazon will be participating in.
