Look for the mint green facade and teal awning between Quinn Bar and Calvario Funeral Home (it’s not as if you could miss it). That’s where the new Hula Hotties Cafe is located, and its soft opening is this Saturday, April 4.

Owners Roger Simpson and Jill Inforzato moved to our neighborhood after living in Hawaii for 38 years, where they had a wholesale bakery on the Big Island that created fine dining desserts for hotels and restaurants, and made three different lines of cookies as well as  Hula Girl Hot Sauce. Their new place on Davis will be a tropical themed coffee house (four different kinds of Hawaiian coffee) with desserts and "local-style food", Inforzato says, plus gifts and local lehua blossom honey.

Since Simpson has been an entertainer most of his life, he will play live music at the cafe on Friday and Saturday nights. The couple also plans to have ukele players at the cafe’s grand opening, April 18, and a full menu ready by then. Next week they are preparing Easter treats, such as hot cross buns, passion fruit and guava cheesecakes, and coconut haupia cake.
