Texas House honors Alonzos on their 25th anniversary

The Texas House of Representatives honored Rep. Roberto R. Alonzo and his wife, Sylvana, on their 25th wedding anniversary Tuesday. Alonzo, a Democrat whose district includes Cockrell Hill, North Oak Cliff and part of Grand Prairie, has served in the House for a total of 12 years. The 52-year-old lawyer first took office in 1993, and he was the first Mexican American elected to the Texas Legislature from North Texas. Sylvana Alonzo has organized the Oak Cliff Cinco de Mayo celebration for the past 13 years.

The Alonzos are from Crystal City, but have lived in Dallas for over 20 years. They have three children: Roberto, Maria Xiomara, and Jose Maria Emeterio.

Sylvana Alonzo sent us this picture from their wedding day in 1984. Cute couple.
