Advocate Video: Bank Tower shoe-shine man

This is a video of Andrés Aguirre, a native of Mexico who has been shining shoes in Dallas for eight years. The man in the chair is Dr. Irby B. Hunter of Preston Hollow, who followed Aguirre when he moved from a car wash near Forrest Lane and the North Dallas Tollway to the Bank Tower at Oak Cliff about three years ago. It’s hard to find a good shoe-shine man nowadays, Irby said. "It seems like all these young men wear running shoes all the time now," he said.
