I recently popped into Cozy Cottage on Bishop and Eighth (it is, literally, a cottage across the street from Hunky’s and Veracruz). It’s a darling little baby and kids boutique that carries quite a bit of the more upscale clothing lines like Zutano and Kissy Kissy, plus other clothing, accessories and toys that you won’t find at chains like Target and Babies R Us.
Immediately, a couple of cribs situated in the cottage’s front room caught my eye. They both held adorable baby loot, and each included a sign with a mother’s name, then stated whether she is having a boy or a girl. The loot turned out to be the store items for which the mother had registered — so instead of having to print off a list and walk up and down the aisles of a big-box trying to find something, then hoping to God that the mom-to-be wants the pink pacifiers with the green flowers instead of the green pacifiers with the pink flowers, all you have to do is cull through the items in the crib and choose whatever you want to purchase.
Kudos to owner Cynthia Herndon for making it so easy on both expectant mothers and the people who want to celebrate with them.
