Or at least that’s the quippy title of an upcoming Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce luncheon, "We’re Number Two!", where Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle will talk about what our officers are doing to decrease crime.

The title of the luncheon refers, of course, to the recently reported drop in the Dallas crime rate, but as the Advocate‘s Rachel Stone reported Friday, the effects of this drop are not necessarily felt on a micro level. Neighbors interviewed said they have seen crime decreases for some time, mostly attributing those changes to initiatives on the part of neighborhood crime watch groups. Maybe that means Dallas’ citywide crime rate, highest in the nation in recent years, isn’t all that important to residents — what’s important is whether crime is happening on their block.
