Free health screening, haircuts Thursday

Free vision and dental screenings, haircuts and school supplies will be available Thursday at an event to promote the Mayor’s Back-to-School Fair later this summer.  Plus, the Mavs Man will be there. (Having basketball for skin seems scary to me, but kids LOVE him.)

Anyway, the event is at Felix G. Botello Elementary School on Marsalis, and it starts at 1 p.m. If you preregister at the Thursday event, you can avoid standing in line for free school supplies at the back-to-school fair at Fair Park Aug. 6. DISD is expecting a big crowd at the August event because of the bad economy.

Thursday’s event is sponsored by Walmart, Chase and Metro PCS.
