Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle told Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce members today that Oak Cliff’s crime rate is not the highest in the city. It’s not the second-highest or the third-highest, either. City Council districts 1 and 3 in Oak Cliff have about the fifth and sixth highest crime rates in the city. "I live in district 14, and district 14 has the highest crime rate in the city," Kunkle said. That district covers East Dallas.

Based on findings from a study from the DPD and the University of North Texas, the neighborhood with the highest concentration of crime is Vickery Meadow, which is in Lake Highlands. Other high-crime neighborhoods are Forest and Audelia, the Bachman community that’s north of Love Field Airport and Oak Lawn.
