Now that the Bishop/Davis study is official, and moving into the public hearing process, another round of analysis begins. The Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce is forming a task force to "make sure that the study is indeed going to accomplish the goal — to attract business and development along those corridors compatible with the neighborhood," says chamber president Bob Stimson.
Stimson says he is "thrilled with the high-level conversation" that the Bishop/Davis study steering committee has had up to this point. The chamber has asked some of its members who have a direct interest in the proposal to "sit down and take a hard look at the details," Stimson says, The group will be headed up by chamber board chair-elect Mark Miranda of Miranda Realty, whose company leases the retail spaces in the Cafe Brazil building at Bishop and Davis, among others in our neighborhood.
"The committee brought forth some great stuff," Stimson says. "I think everybody agrees we need to do something different and define what kind of development we want to have, then the question becomes how do you do it."
