Neighborhood organizer extraordinaire Amy Wallace Cowan is at it again. She’s the brains and energy behind such events as the Mardi Gras Oak Cliff parade, and now she’s organizing a festival to promote and showcase our neighborhood.

Planned for Saturday, Nov. 14, the festival will highlight "our fabulous flavor and arts — culinary and beyond," Cowan states in an email. But it’s not just about food, Cowan says, and that’s why she doesn’t want to use the name "Taste of Oak Cliff" — "because that implies it’s just food, and we want to showcase all of our artisans." Other suggested names include "Cliff Fest", "Experience Oak Cliff" and "Real Oak Cliff"; Cowan and others will be discussing the name at an upcoming meeting.

Booths all along the streets of the Bishop Arts District will be available for a rental/participation fee (details to come), and will be open to any business or artist based in Oak Cliff. Anyone wanting more information can contact Cowan. We’ll be posting updates on the festival at Back Talk Oak Cliff, so keep reading.
