This weekend: Tyler Street block party, Bishop Arts sidewalk sale

Ride on over to Bike Friendly Oak Cliff’s block party Saturday to celebrate bicycles and those who love to pedal them. The party, at Tyler and Seventh from 6:30-11 p.m., was planned as a celebration of the group’s store, Oak Cliff Bicycle Co., but that has run into some zoning problems. That’s OK. They’re partying anyway. The Happy Bullets, STEW! and The Lollipop Shoppe DJs are playing. And the night wraps up with a "bike-in" movie, "Pee Wee’s Big Adventure." (If you haven’t seen that lately, you should really watch it again, because it is hilarious.) The party is free, but bring cash for a plate of barbecue. Oh, and did we mention the free beer? Yeah, there’s that.

Get your recessionary shopping on Saturday during the Bishop Arts District’s sidewalk sale. All of the district’s retailers and some of the restaurants are participating.
