The Kessler Plaza Neighborhood Association’s 4th of July parade at Moss Park starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Wear your patriotic best and show up early for a good spot along the sidewalk that encircles the park.
The Belmont Hotel sold out this weekend, but you can stake out a spot on the patio of BarBelmont to watch the fireworks over downtown. The bar is throwing a party with a DJ from 7 p.m. to midnight.
On Sunday, Jack’s Backyard is hosting a battle of the bands competition with eight Dallas bands, including Miss Marcy and her Texas Sugar Daddies. They’ll compete for the title of best band and cash prizes. There’s no cover charge, and there are drink specials all night. The party starts at 1 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m.
Don’t forget that tonight is the wine walk at the Bishop Arts District’s First Thursday party. For a $5 donation, you get a wine glass with the Bishop Arts District logo, and most of the businesses are offering wine tastings.
