We haven’t said much on Back Talk about the big city hall corruption trial because, luckily, our neighborhood council rep isn’t involved. But even if you haven’t been following the daily trial updates anywhere else, it’s worth a few minute to read Jim Schutze’s take on the scam in the latest Dallas Observer. Schutze has been covering city hall for more years than even he will admit, so his take on what’s happening draws upon lots and lots of personal observation.
Regardless of whether the people on trial are convicted or not, Schutze makes a very interesting point: How is it that the FBI can decide an action is illegal while the city attorney’s office can give the council an "all-clear" on the exact same transaction?
