Waste some time this Friday afternoon getting lost in translation with several of the online tools out there.

First up, there’s freetranslation.com, which has dozens of language options, like Urdu and Hausa.

Or there’s japanesetranslator.co.uk, which will show you how to write your name (or any word) in Japanese. Too bad Britney Spears didn’t know about the site before she got her tattoo. Rumor has it she wanted to get “mysterious” tattooed in Japanese, but instead it reads “strange.”

And if you’ve ever wondered how things can go so terribly wrong in translations, translationparty.com will show you. Type in a simple phrase and watch it be translated back and forth from English to Japanese. I toyed with it, typing in “thank god it’s Friday,” which ended up becoming “thank god for gold.” The possibilities are endless—have fun.
