The Oak Cliff Young Professionals group is putting a spin on speed dating, in which people rotate through five-minute "dates." Their "speed networking" event at Tejanos Tuesday employs the same idea, but without the awkard attempted romance. Speed networking gives professionals a chance to have short meetings to talk about their businesses, ideas and experience.
Participants pay $10, and sit down with one person while a song plays. At the end of the song, they move to the next meeting until they’ve worked the entire room. Anyone between the ages of 21 and 45 is welcome to attend, and bring lots of business cards. There will be free appetizers and a cash bar. The event starts at 5 p.m.
