StoreFront promises to be our neighborhood’s online database

This month’s magazine includes information about a new aspect of our advocatemag.com Web site: StoreFront, a searchable directory for neighborhood businesses of all kinds. If you need a plumber, electrician or any home service professional, click on the StoreFront button on the Web site, type in your neighborhood, and you’ll be directed to businesses and professionals nearby. The same holds true for restaurants and all kinds of neighborhood businesses — and the basic listings are free for neighborhood businesses, as long as they log in and amplify the information we’ve pre-loaded (name, address, phone number and map location).

The good news: StoreFront will be a great way for neighborhood businesses to let us know where they are and what they’re selling. The less good news: It’s going to take a while to get the database completely filled out, as businesses check it out and spend the five minutes or so necessary to update the information. Remind the neighborhood businesses you trade with to take advantage of the basic elements of this no-cost offer, and send us an email if you have questions or suggestions about StoreFront.
