9th Annual Freedom Run, Thursday

Throw on your sportiest red, white and blues, tie on your runnin’ shoes, and join the 9th Annual Freedom 5K Run and 1-mile walk this Thursday, September 10 at Dallas City Hall starting at 6:30 p.m.You can register online now or in person on race day.

I’ve heard talk about this event among my running friends, and I expect it will draw a good crowd — not only is it an opportunity for a fun mid-week race, but the run, organized by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and chaired by neighborhood resident Clay Scheitzach, benefits a remarkably worthy cause: All of the money raised at the race goes directly to the Assist the Officer Foundation, which supports police and firefighters when they need help.

Oh, and I’m pretty sure there will be beer.
