Oak Cliff home tour houses announced

The Old Oak Cliff Conservation League announced the 12 homes on its home tour Monday night. They include a 1951 modernist house in East Kessler, which the Advocate featured in our August cover story. In all, there are 12 homes in nine Oak Cliff neighborhoods. The homes range from a 1913 California bungalow in Winnetka Heights to a modnern home built last year in Kessler Woods. Beckley Wood, a neighborhood near Interstate 35 and Illinois, is on the home tour for the first time. Other neighborhoods represented are Elmwood, East Kessler, Kessler Park, Kessler Plaza, Kidd Springs and Wynnewood.

Vicki Fitzgerald, one of the tour’s organizers, says she is reminded every year that there still are people living north of the Trinity River who don’t know about the natural beauty and interesting architecture of Oak Cliff. "This is the best ambassador we have," she says.

Tickets for the tour, which is Oct. 10-11, are $20. They are available online here, or from 12-6 p.m. at the Kessler Theater. A $2 discount is available for those who take the tour on bicycles.
