What the city council wants to put back in the budget

Some 46 pages worth of re-instatements, from $38,000 for the city’s senior services manager from Ron Natinsky in Far North Dallas to Tennell Atkins’ request for $2.5 million to fund the mayor’s Southern task force work group. There are also requests to restore some rec center cuts, save the senior dental services, and a few odds and ends.

And bless his heart, Mayor Park Cities took pity on the library system. He wants to add $63,000 to buy books (by laying someone off, but it’s the thought that counts).

But the bad news? Only Atkins, who represents Far Southeast Dallas, is talking about a property tax increase, and most of the restorations involve robbing Peter to pay Paul. In other words, all those cuts that we said we’d be willing to pay to restore? The council is saying no.
