Dallas Bikes to City Hall, a citywide event that’s part of the 10-day Cyclesomatic bicycle festival, is Wednesday morning. But so far, the weather forecast is calling for rain and scattered thunderstorms. If the event has to be postponed, organizers will announce it here by 6 a.m.

The event, which starts at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, invites Dallas residents to ride their bikes to City Hall in an effort to "raise greater bicycle awareness." Several City Council members are signed up to ride, and they’ll discuss the city’s plans for "complete streets," which refers to making a city’s roads accessable to all forms of traffic, including bikes and pedestrians.

Cyclesomatic organizer Jason Roberts offers some instruction for cyclists coming from all over Dallas:

"If you are on the North side of town and would like to ride with a group to City Hall, DORBA and TeamDART will be leaving from Mockingbird Station at 7:30 a.m. and riding up the Katy trail, through the AAC and winding towards City Hall.

"If you are leaving from the southern sector, a group will be meeting at 7:30 a.m. in the Bishop Arts District, in front of Eno’s, where Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters will provide free coffee. From there, the group will meet up with the council members leaving Union Station."
