On occasions when OU has whooped UT, Longhorn fans console themselves with a saying that goes something like, "Well, sure they won. They get all their good players from Texas." And it’s true, kind of. Most players on the UT roster come from Texas high schools, and there are a few from other places, but not one is from Oklahoma.

On the other hand, it seems about half the guys on the OU roster are from Texas high schools. And two are from Oak Cliff.

Unfortunately, Kimball High School standout DeMarcus Granger won’t be playing Saturday. The Tulsa World reported his status Tuesday:

"Stoops said defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger ‘just hasn’t quite fully recovered from the back injury. He’s trying. He’s working on it. It’s coming slowly. But he just hasn’t quite been able to get over the hump with it.’ Granger had surgery last December to relieve pain in his back. Granger has said he’s pain free, but still stiffens up, and after several months of inactivity, he is still trying to get his weight and conditioning under control."

More after the jump.

This Longhorn hopes the Sooners lose big, but sends best wishes to Granger. I hope he’s playing again soon.

OU also has defensive back Kevin Brent, a freshman from South Oak Cliff High School who hasn’t seen much action yet as a Sooner. Maybe we’ll see him Saturday.
