The new retail/medical office building at Bishop and Colorado is nominated for the award "Best Development in Oak Cliff in 2009" from the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce. Considering that the medical industry is one of the only sectors still building right now, it’s kind of brilliant to add retail into the medical office mix.

And the development brought the first Jimmy John’s sandwich shop to Oak Cliff.

I ordered a No. 2, the "Big John," an 8-inch sub, which comes with thin slices of roast beef with lettuce tomato and mayo, which was just under $5. I added cheese for 79 cents extra. With chips and a drink, my total was close to $9. It was a little more than I had expected to spend, but it was a good lunch. The sandwiches are big and filling. The brand-new restuarant, which opened three weeks ago, is super clean, and the staff is friendly.
