Oak Cliff has some pretty good fancy supper deals for New Year’s Eve.

On Tuesday, Keri told us about Zen sushi’s five-course tasting menu special. It’s $79, which is a bargain. Chef Michelle Carpenter’s tasting menu usually is over $100, and even at that price, it’s money well spent.

Bolsa’s New Year’s Eve menu is $65, and delightfully tempting.  Appetizer choices include seared scallops, crispy sweetbreads and steak tartare. Entrees include a gnocchi dish, duck breast, beef medallions and kurobuta pork jowls. I have to give them the prize for most exotic menu.

Smoke’s four-course menu is $60. Entree choices include fried chicken or the big rib (think Fred Flintstone), and it includes a champagne toast at midnight.

At Jack’s Backyard, Kathy Corbin is performing with Bella & Darla at 9 p.m. Cricket Taylor & the Electro-Magnetics perform at 10 p.m., and Les Femmes Aplomb, a burlesque troupe, performs after. They’ll have a champagne toast and complimentary breakfast.
