"What Came First?" is the title of the exhibit opening at Decorazon Gallery Friday. It features the work of Minmyo Kim, a California-based photographer who originally is from Korea. Her series of pictures, titled "We Can Fly," are from a Korean poultry farm. "We Can Fly compels the viewer to reexamine life by facing the unavoidable death and provides the viewer with the opportunity to be reborn through the virtual experience of death," says her artist’s statement.
The other part of the exhibit is Alex Leme’s "The Eggs" photo series, which "explores the prolific symbolism associated with eggs."
The exhibit also features "Look and Leave," Jane Fulton Alt’s photo series from New Orleans’s Lower Ninth Ward.
The artists’ reception is Friday from 6-9:30 p.m., and the exhibit is open until Feb. 8.
A benefit for the Second Thought Theater at the Doublewide Sunday includes performances by the Happy Bullets, Drawn By Jaymz and Here Holy Spain. Tickets are $20 at the door.
