This weekend: photos, Cinco de Mayo, Etsy bash, books, music, sushi, pool party

The Trinity River Photo Contest is over, but the show is just begining. Photos from the contest are on display, starting with a Thursday night opening, at Methodist hospital.

Oak Cliff has one of the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Texas, and it all kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Etsy Dallas Spring Bash is Saturday from 1-5 p.m. at South Side on Lamar.

Cliff Notes Prolonged Media moved to a space adjacent to the Kessler Theater and will act as a box office. Owners Opalina and Carlos Salas are throwing a party to celebrate, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Ruby Jane, the Cartwrights and Phoenix Hart play at the Kessler Theater Saturday at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.

Zen Sushi chef Michelle Carpenter turns 41 this weekend, and in celebration, she is offering 41-cent drinks, sushi or tempura. Zen has a new website, by the way.

Weekly pool parties at the Belmont Hotel start Sunday with DJs Jennifer Miller and Paul Paredes.
