Last week, I wrote a relatively long-winded post about DISD Supt. Michael Hinojosa being on the job for five years. Now, the DMN has an even longer story about the same thing, including quotes from current and former board members and other interested parties. It’s a good read about the status of the school district, but I still feel the same way about Hinojosa and the district: He has done a lot of great things at DISD, including boosting academics and improving the facilities, but the 2008 budget crisis will be his legacy. And I still believe that, unfortunately, with a legacy like that, Hinojosa won’t survive on the job until his contract ends in 2012.
