This weekend: music, giants, crafts, community

05.28  Emily Elbert at the Kessler $10
Dallas native singer/songwriter Emily Elbert is currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and has won all kinds of awards. She has also opened for several acts, such as Marcia Ball and G Love and Special Sauce. The 21-year-old will perform alongside Michael Henry Tillman at 7 p.m. and the Kessler Theater.

05.28 Giants of the Savanna $9-$12
The Dallas Zoo’s new interactive habitat gives one the chance to experience what they might encounter on an African safari. It opens May 28 and continues all through out summer. Admission is: $12 for adults, $9 for senior citizens, $9 for children ages 3-11, free for children 2 and younger. Open daily, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

05.29 Cool Crafts at Cliff Notes
This Saturday artist Mary Benedictio is bringing local crafters like Jenny English, Alex Moreno, Val Curry and many more to the front sidewalk of Cliff Notes for a unique sale. There will be handmade refreshments, crafts, art and books for sale from 11:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

05.29 Community Day
The Moorland Family YMCA is hosting Community Day from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday. They will have a free day of swimming, food and games. You can also join the YMCA’s community garage sale and sell your old items. There will be a $5 charge if you bring your own table or $10 to borrow one of theirs.
