This weekend: black lights, painting, music

07.30 FREE PERFORMANCE
Dallas native Robert “Sput” Searight, a music producer who has worked with Erykah Badu and Justin Timberlake, took time to work with kids during a summer camp at the Bishop Arts Theater Center in Oak Cliff recently. Their work culminates in a performace Friday at 7 p.m., and it’s free.

07.30 BLACK LIGHT POSTERS
It might be considered low-brow art, but it’s groovy, man. The Kessler Theater gallery has an exhibit of black light posters from the 60s and 70s. A $10 ticket gets you into the Futura Bold show as well.

07.31 FRESHEN UP JEFFERSON
Join the neighborhood volunteers from 8-11 a.m. at the Texas Theater.  Volunteers will scrape and paint 24 historic street lights. Oncor is donating paint, but volunteers are asked to bring ladders, brushes, plastic, tape and anything else that might be helpful.

07.30-31 JAMES HALL AND THE FUTURA BOLD
James Hall and The Futura Bold return to the Kessler Theater for back-to-back performances. Also performing are Bobgoblin, The Boom Boom Box and New Fumes. It’s also a birthday celebration for local artist Cabe Booth, and DJ Cee Pee from Good Records will serve as emcee. Tickets are $10.
