Jena Morrow will discuss her book and her battle with eating disorders

The Elisa Project is a non-profit group in Dallas working to prevent and treat eating disorders, and they’re hosting a luncheon August 20th. The speaker will be Jena Morrow, author of Hollow: An Unpolished Tale, the true story of her own battle with anorexia.

In the book, Morrow describes her 20-year battle, including the pain and obstacles of treatment and the ongoing difficulty of maintaining her recovery. In a casual, conversational style, she shares the role that faith has played in her healing and recovery and includes Bible passages that specifically spoke to her. “When I first began reading  this book, I almost put it down and walked away,” said one reader, “the emotions from page one were so intense. For anyone has felt less than worthy – you will find yourself in this book.”

The Elisa Project was founded in 1999 by Rick and Leslie McCall in memory of their daughter Elisa who took her own life after battling eating disorders. TEP uses public awareness to de-stigmatize the problem, in hopes that sufferers will get help. They focus on education, support and advocacy to save others from the misery that Elisa experienced.

The luncheon begins at noon and will be held August 20th at Mattito’s Café, 3011 Routh Street. There’s no fee to attend (just the cost of your own lunch). If you’d like to go, you’ll need to RSVP by August 17.
