The new restaurant taking the old Vitto’s space in the Bishop Arts District will be called Oddfellows. It’s expected to open for breakfast and lunch sometime this fall, and dinner service will be added later. We reported Wednesday that the pastry chef from Local in Deep Ellum, Aliza Shier, will be the head chef. A media release from Oddfellows Thursday said the partners are Gary Buckner, Amy Cowan, Scott Griggs, Amanda Pounds, Jason Roberts, Chad Sepulveda, Aliza Shier, Matt Spillers and Shane Spillers.
Zen Sushi is having a “mojito showdown” Monday. Two bartenders, Juan and Julian, will compete to see who can win the title of best mojito in Oak Cliff. Rolls are half price, and mojitos, made with Austin-based Treaty Oak Rum, are $8.
We hear that Con Fusion, the Asian restaurant on West Davis, has closed. I only went there once, and the food was fine, but we were the only table in there, so I am not surprised, unfortunately.
Did you guys hear about the off-the-menu dessert at Tillman’s? It’s a rice-crispy treat with bacon, chocolate and ice cream.
