Are you a Dallas homeowner who wants to know how much money the proposed city property tax increase will cost you, if implemented? Steve Thompson with the DMN published a handy calculator; just select your property value from the scrolling list, and a tax amount will pop up in a few seconds. Here’s a starting point: If you own a $200,000 house and have a homestead exemption (i.e., you live in the house and it’s your primary residence), your city tax bill would increase $78.66. The calculator works if your house is valued between $50,000 and $5 million. Note: Dallas County is contemplating a tax increase, too, and that’s not included in this calculation.
