  • installing a 35-mm changeover system, which would allow them to screen repertory film prints,
  • tweaking the existing digital projection system to meet i-Cinema standards,
  • installing an adjustable 40-foot screen so that the theater can be used for movies, plays and other stage performances,
  • adding 16-mm and Super 8-mm film projection,
  • adding soundproofing between the theater and the lobby,
  • constructing a concession stand and bar.

The partners’ goal is to bring traditional and digital films to the theater and fill seats.

“Long-term goals to restore the theater to its original condition still exist, but in order to realize those goals, we’ve got to be on par with competing theaters,” Epstein says. “Attracting audiences is the only way this theater will survive.”
