A story in today’s Dallas Morning News takes a comprehensive look at the city’s upcoming decision regarding gas drilling on public land at Mountain Creek.
Oak Cliff residents, including Raymond Crawford, strongly opposed allowing gas company XTO to get a permit to drill. And on Oct. 20, the City Plan Commission voted against the permit. So now, City Council, which signed a drilling lease with XTO in an effort to balance the budget two years ago, must vote at least 12-3 in favor of the permit for it to pass.
Even though XTO has a lease with the city, they must obtain a permit to drill.
The story explains it all. I think that’s the first story that’s laid it all out so well.
