Advocate photos: Texas Theatre open house and ribbon cutting

Aviation Cinemas, the Texas Theatre’s new management company, threw an open house party Thursday. The mayor was there to cut the ribbon. There were food and drinks. And they showed “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”.

Oak Cliff-based artist Clay Stinnett’s paintings based on vintage movie posters are on display at the theater. Jason Reimer of Aviation Cinemas asked Stinnett to create the paintings, and they are fantastic. Most of them are about 6-by-5 feet or so, and they’re selling for $300-$650. Go check them out — they’re on display through January.

Check out our pictures from the event after the jump.
