With the texting of “B-O-O-M” on his cellphone by Dallas City Councilman Steve Salazar to the bulldozer driver aimed at the former Dallas County maintenance garage at Sylvan and Fort Worth Avenue, the first step to retail/commercial development on that corner was taken.  The building came down within an hour, a pile of rubble to make way for restaurants and, hopefully, an organic grocery store. Mary McDermott Cook of the Trinity Trust praised this demolition as a valuable step in Oaxaca Enterprise’s contribution to the Trinity River project.

The patio at Bar Belmont gave a birds-eye view to the entire demolition and most of the onlookers were wishing they were the bulldozer driver, having fun knocking down a decrepit building.
