Last week, we had news about two new Bishop Arts District restaurants. Oddfellows is expected to open Tuesday. And Lucia has been doing test runs and could open any day now. Plus, Best Enchiladas Ever is under construction. Next, we expect the two new barbecue places: Luckie’s Smokehouse at Davis and Clinton and Lockhart Smokehouse at Davis and Bishop.

We didn’t try any new restaurants this week, but we have some potato chip news.

I discovered Papa Lou’s kettle chips at my new favorite ‘hood grocer, Elrod’s Cost Plus. The chips are manufactured in West Dallas by Gonzalez Food Products. They’re cut thick, and they’re not too salty, although slightly greasy. But as a treat, they’re really good. The plain chips come with a little packet of Valentino hot sauce. And there’s a chile and lime flavor we haven’t tried yet.
