The 41-year-old Farmers Branch mayor told the Dallas Morning News he won’t run again because his wife is expecting their first child, and he wants to focus on his personal injury law practice.
O’Hare made national headlines in 2008 with an ordinance banning landlords from renting to illegal immigrants. And he ticked off all of Oak Cliff when he defended the policy in an email saying he didn’t want Farmers Branch to be like Oak Cliff.
Here’s what it said:
“My family has been here since 1956 and almost everyone that I consider family lives here. I don’t want us to have to move. I don’t want to have to live somewhere else. But, I’m not going to live in Oak Cliff, which is what we are becoming and going to become if we don’t make some serious changes and spend some money.”
