Construction could start on Mission Motel redevelopment this summer

Dallas mission motel 276x204 Construction could start on Mission Motel redevelopment this summerThe Alamo Motel at Sylvan and Fort Worth Avenue has come down to make way for what we hope will be a cool grocery store.

Another developer has a plan to reuse an old motel about a block away. Amanda Cross says she has a plan to remake the Mission Motel into a mixed-use development that will include 43 retail spaces comprising 500-800 square feet each.

The plan is that the property will give small business upstarts a leg up by providing small spaces and inexpensive rent.

The 2-acre property will include 10 live/work spaces and as many as three restaurants, Cross says.

She expects the project to move quickly through the Dallas Plan Commission, and construction could start as early as June, she says.
