It’s the TV show that made us famous for something other than presidential assassination. Go anywhere in the world and tell people you’re from Dallas. See how long it takes before they ask you about J.R. Ewing.

The Texas Theatre is bringing “Dallas” to the ‘hood, screening every episode of the hit 80s TV show at 8 p.m. Sundays.

There were 357 episodes of Dallas, including the original mini series. So now you know where to find soap opera junkies like me on Sunday nights for the next year.

The Texas, of course, is not just the best place for a Pearl Light in Dallas. It’s also where police nabbed Lee Harvey Oswald on Nov. 22, 1963.

And “Dallas”, over-the-top and corny as it is, helped Dallas recover its image after the Kennedy assassination. The famous “Who Done It?” episode, in which we found out Who Shot J.R., aired Nov. 21, 1980, a night before the assassination’s 17th anniversary. Eighty-three million people watched it.

The “Dallas” screenings start this weekend, and theater-goers are asked to dress up for the occasion. Let’s see some heavy blush, sparkly dresses, three-piece suits and cowboy boots.
